Georg Jensen Vintage "Pyramid" Creamer and Sugar Bowl
Designed in 1930. Part of the Pyramid coffee & tea Set. The elements are bared on geometric shapes; the ball, the triangle, the circle and straight liner. The liner are slightly curved, the profiler are accentuated, and the leaf underneath the jug's handle accented the sweep of its arch.
The pyramid design belong to the Art Deco style which was international style of design & architecture, the form language of Art Deco favoured the baric structure of geometry. The inspiration came from varition free art movements like Dada's machine aesthetic, Cubism's geometical approach. The spectacular discover of the intact tomb of King Tutankhamen in Egypt also influenced the Art Deco style with motifs from the Egyptian furniture & pyramids.
This shape is a challenge to the silversmith.
