This is a reproduction of a 1725 William FLeming Porringer or Saucier with sterling silver bowl and attached turned wooden handle. The saucier measures about 7" long from the outer edge of the bowl to the far side of the handle, The bowl has a 3" wide top rim and stands about 2 5/8" tall. There is a dimple close to the base of the sterling ( Please refer to the photos) and shows general signs of light surface wear from use.
Ebony wood is a very hard type of wood. The wood curver made each handle and knob especiallt for the individual bowl and pot since the sockets where the handle and knob were handmade and thus may vary slightly from pot to pot.
