‘Trooping the Colour’

Updated: Jun 21, 2022

The Four day Platinum Jubilee celebration for Queen Elizabeth II finished on June 5th so this blog is indeed a little late however we hope we cover something original and fun.

For those who followed The Buckingham Palace updates, we are pretty sure you were thrilled with the grandeur of the ceremony and impeccable grooming of the royal family members. The sensation was indeed optimistic and uplifting. Many of us, me included, admitted that the British Royals and their PR team have always done their homework diligently and in ‘great style’. They are up to date with current affairs, social issues and… may I say that they seem to be pretty transparent and open up for both praise and criticism.

The Queen took over the throne in 1952 and became the head of the country and The Commonwealth. Her duty was there to unite and set an exemplary role for her family and the countries. Her decisions have always been based on traditional values, Christian morals and public opinion. It has been 70 years and the celebration was very much needed!!

‘Trooping the Colour’ has marked the official birthday of the British monarch for over 260 years. Traditionally there are 1400 Soldiers on foot and 200 on horses carrying the flags that represent their regiment plus another 400 musicians. The Queen herself had been on horse back since 1947 up until 1986.

For this year 2022, The national anthem was played as the working Royal Family arrived to watch the ceremony on Horse Guard Parade. The Prince of Wales took the lead and inspected the troops of the Household Division on the Queen’s behalf, joined by the Duke of Cambridge and the Princess Royal.

The miniature horse parade that are in front of you right now are our own nostalgic combination of the past and the present. In our sequence we put Prince Charles alongside his mother, The Queen who returned the salute from Prince William. Behind The Queen is the ‘Parade Commander’, a Life Guards Officer.

Also on parade is the Life Guards drumhorse ‘HECTOR’ followed by the Life Guards Standard Bearer together with the Regimental Farrier and Trumpeter.

After them is a Life Guards Corporal of Horse and last but not least another 3 Life Guards Troopers.

Standing at attention in the background are several dismounted Life Guards and a solo trumpeter.

The details of each figure is not only accurate but exquisitely made. They represent tradition, history and hand made craftsmanship.
